June 2008, Hartford, CT employee Christian Maldonado wins award for service excellence, two other Career TEAM members get honorable mentions . The Belinda Price Memorial Award for CTWorks Service Champions is given to a person nominated, by peers and management from all the area partners and CTWorks employees, for outstanding customer service and relations in the Hartford , CT Regional One-Stop area.
Christian, who won the award from among more then 100 eligible people, is not only a former CTWorks client himself but also works from a wheelchair (the result of a past illness). During the past year Christian had gotten himself noticed while participating in a few of the CTWorks programs. Hartford area Career TEAM leadership took a liking to Christian's hard work, dedication, and uncanny ability to make people smile when they were in need. He was offered a part-time position he quickly turned into full time.
Recently, Christian's hard work and great attitude got him nominated for the The Belinda Price Memorial Award for Service Champions, which he then won.
Christian is best known not for the fact that he operates from a wheelchair but for how he actually takes advantage of his circumstance to inspire others and bring smiles and cheers with two wheeled (balancing) antics. He says "hey, you might as well make the situation fun..." He also goes on to point out the encouragement all the members of the Hartford area TEAM have provided him.
Yanira Fernandez and Yvonne Krosky of the New Britain, CT offices won two of the seven honorable mentions for The Belinda Price Memorial Award for CTWorks Service Champions.
