September, 2008 Career T.E.A.M. CEO Christopher Kuselias to spoke at the Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs (AFOP)Annual Conference in Virginia Beach, VA. Mr. Kuselias spoke on “Building A Successful Marketing Plan For Your Agency.” The discussion revolved around how to design programs and training to produce a documented increase in placement and job retention performance.

The Topics included: employer outreach strategies, time management, overcoming employer objections, working with difficult clients and techniques for uncovering more job openings. Attendees learned strategies for preparing their staff and students for the 21st century workplace. Included was a "Cultural Awareness Measure" topic about training Career Outreach Specialists on strategies to improve job placement and retention performance. Also discussed was: keeping a proactive eye toward the future, working with partners to address issues before they become problems, understanding and predicting performance levels based on organization capability, and how to improve and using Labor Market Information to design programs around community needs.

Mr. Kuselias noted; "Keeping a proactive eye to the future is a key consideration for any organization especially in workforce development. I welcome the opportunity to educate agencies and funding sources on best practices.”
