Career T.E.A.M. INVITED TO WHITE HOUSE TO PARTCIPATE IN NATIONAL WELFARE TO WORK PARTNERSHIP

Hamden, Connecticut, May 1, 1997 - Career T.E.A.M., a Connecticut based employment and training organization with a proven track record in training and finding employment for welfare recipients has been asked to participate in the Clinton Administration’s "Welfare To Work Partnership".

The "Welfare To Work Partnership" is an independent, nonpartisan, national effort of the American business community to help move those on public assistance into private sector jobs. The Partnership will provide information and technical support to businesses of all sizes and from all industries.

To date, Career T.E.A.M. has trained and employed over 500 Connecticut welfare recipients and conducted a statewide workshop series for over 400 social workers entitled, "How to Employ Welfare Recipients On A Timely Basis" and been contracted to present strategies for employment for the CT Jobs First statewide job fair and workshop series which targeted 20,000 Connecticut welfare recipients.

Career T.E.A.M. founders Christopher and Susan Kuselias will assist in the production of a best practices manual of private sector initiatives and promising alliances at the state and local levels. After being recommended by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Education, Employment and training Committee, on May 20th the two participated in a highly selective strategic planning session followed by a visit to the White House where they met President Clinton, Vice President Gore and other key founding members.

Founding Board members include: Wiliam T. Esrey, CEO of Sprint Corporation, Gerald Greenwald, CEO of United Airlines Corporation, James P. Kelly, CEO of UPS, Dennis Malamatinas, CEO of Burger King Corporation and Robert B. Shapiro, CEO of Monsanto Company.

Eli J. Segal, Chief of Staff of the Clinton-Gore campaign and creator of Americorps, President Clinton’s national service initiative, serves as the Partnership’s President.
