Hartford, CT, April 15, 2005 - Career T.E.A.M., is pleased to announce has been selected to participate in the Department of Labor, Job Corps Career Success Skills pilot. Job Corps is a national career development program designed to address barriers to employment faced by low income, at-risk youth 16-24 years old. The Job Corps program operates 120 centers nationwide and serves over 65,000 students each year.
The National Office of Job Corps selected Bellewether Ltd., to facilitate the pilot process including selecting the appropriate materials for the new Career Success Skills initiative. After reviewing numerous vendor offerings, Career T.E.A.M. was selected to make the pilot a success.
The four-month pilot is designed to identify products and services that can be used to train and support Job Corps students as they attain employability, independent living, and social skills through the Career Success Skills initiative. The pilot creates the forum for frontline staff to review products and services that aid Job Corps students, as welt as center staff, in attaining the aforementioned skills.
It is expected that approximately 800 staff and 2,400 students from six (6) Job Corps Centers will participate in the initial pilot, along with vendors from various companies offering a variety of products and services that address the Career Success Skills needs of the Job Corps students.
The feedback will be used to frame a national rollout to the additional 114 Job Corps sites. In total, up to 70,000 students and 23,300 staff will be affected by Career Success Skills. Career T.E.A.M. will provide material and services to centers when the initiative is officially implemented.
